Blog Post #6

Diigo has been an extremely resourceful tool that we have utilized in EME2040. I really enjoyed how organized it kept resources. I was able to search my name and see everything I had posted. I was also great for collaboration, as I was able to see the other resources my classmates found. The only thing I did not like about Diigo was the annotations we had to do. I had to download Chrome and the extension tool in order to annotate my source. It was not too much of a hassle, but it was extra work that I had to figure out how to do. I definitely would like to keep using Diigo in the future. I can use it as a tool for keeping track of different websites I want to use in future lesson. It is a lot better than having a ton of bookmarks. I am so thankful that we have been introduced to Diigo because it has already helped keep track of articles that I need to use for assignments.

I enjoy using Blogger. I have been able to evaluate and analyze my thoughts in an organized way. It was an informal type of writing, which I liked. I felt like I was have a conversation with my audience. The prompts were not at all hard to answer. It made me think of assignments in a new perspective and the purpose of each technology tool. Keeping a blog is a lot easier than I would have imagined. Blogger is easy to navigate, edit, and post on. I really enjoyed creating the design for my Blog, adding each feature that was asked of us. I learned new things, and it enhanced my technology-based intelligence. So far, I have learned how to design a blog and keep things organized. I do not have any complaints about Blogger. It is the most fun assignment each week!

One Web2.0 tool I plan to use when teaching is FlipGrid. It is a website, as well as an application for smart phones. Teachers are able to create a classroom code, in which students can join the class FlipGrid group with that code. Multiple video assignments can be created, with varying time limits. Students can interact by watching other student's videos, liking, and commenting. Teachers are able to lock the assignments on a certain date and time, so that students can no longer participate after a certain time. Students can create an account with google, and then join the class with the code. When using the application, you can press record and start speaking. Students are able to make separate clips in one video, delete clips to restart, and add fun word art and emojis. The groups organize the videos posted from newest to oldest. I would recommend this Web2.0 tool as a fun interactive assignment for teachers to use. Throughout high school, I would have to do weekly video journals for some of my classes. For specific fun assignments, we would use FlipGrid as well. Participation was always higher when we were able to submit assignments with FlipGrid because it was a fun tool for us to use. The website is easily navigated and organized, making it simple for students and teachers. I will use FlipGrid in my future classroom and recommend it to any teacher who is looking for a new, fun way to complete work. Click link to visit: FlipGrid

  1. Flipgrid is an excellent choice! We actually use it in some of my graduate-level classes and it's a really fun way to engage with other students!
